Stephen Lance is Vice President, Inside Plant – National Data Centers at Spectrum, where he oversees mission-critical operations that support service to Spectrum’s ~31 million customers across 41 states.

Stephen and his team are responsible for providing direction and oversight for critical infrastructure and standards-based installation of all IT equipment across the National Data Centers, leading initiatives that support the strategy and goals for products and services to ensure reliability and on-time delivery. His support for regional technical operations include the hub and headend operations, critical infrastructure, and preventative maintenance of the facility, and he supports project planning, capital expenditures, and business and facility plan development.

Stephen has 20+ years of experience leading large-scale network engineering, operations, and infrastructure transformation, with expertise spanning IP networking, data centers, network reliability, capacity planning, and service continuity. Throughout his career, he has been recognized as a visionary leader and transformation catalyst, consistently delivering measurable results in cost savings, network reliability, and operational efficiency.

Before stepping into executive roles at Charter, Stephen held leadership positions at Time Warner Cable, Verizon Wireless, and AT&T. He began his career in the United States Army as a 33T – Military Intelligence Electronics Repairer with the 3rd Special Forces Group, where he developed the technical discipline and mission focus that continue to define his leadership style today. His passion for the Military continues as the Co-Chair of Spectrum’s Veterans Business Resource Group, which aims to foster a positive and inclusive environment for veteran employees and their allies and supports the transition of newly hired veterans into developing a career path at Spectrum.

Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from DeVry University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Data Centre Leadership & Management at Anglia Ruskin University. He holds a California C-7 Low Voltage Contractor license and is an active member of both the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
